"Medicare Modernization Act File 101" Materials: Resources and Data Analysis on Opioid Utilization and MMDI Technical Assistance Tools – February 26, 2019
This SDRC webinar consisted of two parts. For part 1, the SDRC team reviewed recently enacted legislation to address opioid utilization, and provided definitions and information on the prevalence of opioid utilization in dual eligible beneficiaries. The presentation included strategies and resources for addressing opioid use disorder. For part 2, the Medicare-Medicaid Data Integration (MMDI) team highlighted the suite of tools SDRC provides to help state Medicaid agencies address the challenge of successfully integrating Medicare and Medicaid data from a variety of sources.

"Resources and Data Analysis on Opioid Utilization and MMDI Technical Assistance Tools" Materials: Part D PDE Data and the Opioid Epidemic – August 30 and September 21, 2017
The State Data Resource Center (SDRC) and its data experts explored how state Medicaid agencies can utilize Part D Prescription Drug Event (PDE) data to combat the opioid epidemic. From the early 1990s to the early 2010s, the number of opioid prescriptions in the United States has more than doubled, while the number of opioid-related overdose deaths has more than tripled during the 2000s and 2010s. SDRC illustrated which Part D PDE elements can maximize state Medicaid agencies’ efforts to implement opioid-related care coordination and program integrity initiatives.
